Back in late June when Colleen first contacted me about this greyhound statue, I was in the mist of creating and updating the Walkathon web page and adding all the new dogs to the GPI website.  There was no way I could do justice to a very large greyhound statue in need of a home.  Michael, Colleen's husband estimates that the statue is 5' x 5' so it's quite large.  As you can see in one of the pictures below, this statue is in need of a little restorative work in its neck area.

If you would like to buy this statue, all details and photos are below.  Maybe someone can pick it up and donate it to GPI for one of their event auctions.  :)

UPDATE:  Looks like many are willing to donate money and have the statue stay at the kennel.  Kathy Jackson has graciously offered to pick up the statue and transport it to the kennel.

First message from Colleen while on vacation:

June 29, 2011 - This statue is in a little antique/consignment shop in Wheeler, OR. The guy wants $245 and says it's the same cast as the one from Friends. This one is made from fiberglass, it has a small crack on the neck (maybe fixable). ANYWAY...I didn't know if anyone in our GPI group would be interested enough to want to drive here to buy it (Michael figures it would be a 5-6 hour drive one way).

Second message:

July 29, 2011 - I just called the shop in Wheeler OR where we 'found' the greyhound statue and it is still available!

The place that it's at is called - Old Wheeler Antiques & Collectibles

Phone number is 503-368-3406, address is 395 Hwy 101, Wheeler OR, 97147.

When we were there the price was $245 - not sure if it is still that price or not...it's possible that he might be willing to take less.

The owners name is Greg Nichols.
